A Forest School Christmas party - 9 ways these parties are a little different...

Writer's picture: Caylin (Forest Schooled)Caylin (Forest Schooled)

This time of year is filled with all sorts of parties and get togethers to celebrate the holiday season. So, of course lots of us want to celebrate at Forest School too! But Forest School Christmas parties are just a little bit different than most. Here's how:

1. There are mince pies, but you probably won't want to eat them. They might be made of mud...

2. Hot chocolate moustaches abound...

3. Christmas cookies are replaced with wood cookies and made into snowmen and/or some variety of Christmas ornament...

4. Marshmallows are roasted on an open fire (much more likely than chestnuts, though some may do this too)...

5. Most (if not all) decorations are homemade and will most likely include wreaths ornamented with bits and pieces collected from the woods...

6. Instead of wearing your best clothes to the party, everyone wears their worst – and most complete their outfit with the perfume/aftershave 'eau de smoke'...

7. Sticks have been transformed into reindeer...

8. Any music is either made or accompanied by the noise of the wind and the leaves...

9. Everyone has cold fingers and toes, but there are still lots of smiles...

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a great one and I'll catch you in the new year :)

P.S. Here's a little video with a christmas message to get you in the holiday mood ;)
